Jakarta (ANTARA) – Para atlet yang tergabung dalam tim esports nasional Indonesia siap mengikuti rangkaian kompetisi olahraga elektronik Asian Games 2022 yang akan berlangsung di China Hangzhou Esports Center, China.Nomor yang diikuti Tim Esports Nasional Indonesia adalah DOTA2, PUBG Mobile, FIFA Online 4, dan Street Fighter V.
Manajer tim esports nasional Indonesia, Gary Ongko Putera, dalam keterangan resmi PB ESI yang diterima, Sabtu, mengaku optimis dengan hasil pengundian nomor yang diikuti skuad esports Indonesia.
“Kami tentunya tetap optimis bisa meraih hasil positif pada pertandingan-pertandingan yang akan diikuti oleh para atlet Indonesia sehingga bisa meraih medali nantinya,” kata Gary.
“Kami punya keyakinan kepada Timnas Esports Indonesia bahwa mereka akan berjuang sekuat tenaga untuk Merah Putih, meski berdasarkan hasil pengundian atlet esports kita harus bertemu dengan negara-negara kuat,” imbuhnya.

Gary mengatakan timnas esports Indonesia bernomor punggung DOTA2 akan bertemu Thailand dan akan menghadapi China jika lolos dari babak penyisihan grup. Sedangkan atlet Indonesia dari Street Fighter V Indonesia akan menghadapi Hong Kong.
Selanjutnya menurut angka PUBG Mobile, Skuad Garuda juga siap bertanding dan berpeluang meraih medali. Untuk FIFA Online 4, tim melihat para atlet yang tergabung sudah matang dalam beradaptasi dengan game FIFA Online 4 versi Asian Games.
