Jakarta (ANTARA) – Dua tim Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Indonesia, Onic Esports dan Geek Fam mengawali perjuangannya meraih gelar juara di M5 World Championship yang digelar di Manila, Filipina, dengan Main Stage yang dimulai pada Sabtu.Kedua wakil Indonesia tersebut tiba di Manila beberapa hari lalu untuk melakukan persiapan menuju kejuaraan yang mempertemukan 16 tim terbaik Mobile Legends dunia.

Onic dan Geek Fam pun hadir di M5 Gala 2023, Kamis (31/11) malam, membawakan budaya Indonesia. Bahkan Onic berhasil meraih penghargaan sebagai tim berpenampilan terbaik karena sama-sama mengenakan kemeja batik saat mengikuti sesi persahabatan malam hari untuk menjalin silaturahmi antar tim yang akan bertanding.

Onic Esports mendapatkan tiket ke Main Stage M5 World Championship setelah menjadi juara MPL Indonesia Season 12 pada bulan Oktober, dengan Geek Fam sebagai runner up.

Sebelum Main Stage dimulai hari ini, M5 World Championship untuk pertama kalinya menggelar babak wild card di Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, pada 23 November yang mempertemukan delapan tim dari delapan wilayah untuk mengisi dua tempat di pentas dunia.

Berlangsung selama tiga hari, dua slot wild card akhirnya diisi oleh SMG asal Malaysia, dan Lilgun dari Mongolia. Keduanya bergabung dengan 14 tim lainnya untuk berlaga di fase grup.

M5 World Championship berlangsung pada tanggal 2 Desember hingga 17 Desember, dimulai dari fase grup, babak penyisihan, hingga akhirnya grand final.

Pada fase grup, 16 tim terbaik dunia dibagi menjadi empat grup. Onic Esports yang tergabung di Grup A bersaing ketat dengan See You Soon dari Kamboja, Triple Esports dari Arab Saudi, dan Bigetron Sons dari Brazil.

Sedangkan Geek Fam harus bertarung di Grup D bersama The Ohio Brothers dari Amerika, Home Bois Esports dari Malaysia, dan Deus Vult yang mewakili Eropa Timur dan Asia Tengah (EECA) sebagai pesaing beratnya.
